October is a pretty exciting time for our little one’s, with conkers, fallen leaves, and Halloween! This scary occasion is a wonderful time of the year, with trick or treating and parties, but it doesn’t stop there. We decided to offer you a list of our favourite, child friendly, Halloween films. So pack your School Lunch Boxes with some Halloween themed treats, turn on Netflix, and let your little monsters get lost in the magic of Halloween.
What screams Halloween more than monsters? Fear not your kids will love these guys. The film tells a story of two friends, Mike & Sully, you stumble across a small child, Boo, and try to get her back home and try to fight the evil corporation they work for. Filling with laughs throughout, and a heartfelt message about friendship, this film is perfect for the whole family at Halloween.
What Halloween is complete without everybody’s favourite wizard? Based on the classic children’s novel about an orphan who on his eleventh birthday finds out he is a wizard. Each film follows the classic narrative of good vs evil, mixed with a few bits of humour hear and there. Your little monsters will love this film.
The Classic tale of Casper the friendly ghost is perfect for your little monsters to enjoy at Halloween. The film tells a story of a paranormal expert and his daughter bunk in an abandoned house populated by 3 mischievous ghosts and one friendly one. Friendships are made, and the true meaning of family is expressed. Casper is a great film that will get your children in the mood for Halloween.
The Black Cauldron
This coming-of-age film is perfect for young fantasy lovers, and superb for Halloween. Taran, an assistant pig-farmer who yearns for adventure, must protect his magical pig from the evil Horned King who plans to use the animal to find a cauldron that can bring the dead to life. One of the more darker Disney films, it still provides the key message of love and friendship along with a few laughs along the way, a Halloween must for any young thrill seekers.
Based on the Roald Dahl classic, The Witches is perfect for Halloween. After moving to England after his parents die, Luke encounters Witches for the first time. Plotting to rid the world of children, Luke decides to do all that he can to stop them, even after being turned into a mouse. Filled with magic from start to finish, along with a few scary parts, this is the perfect film for Halloween.
The Haunted Mansion
Based on the popular Disney ride, The Haunted Mansion is a film packed full of laughs. A Workaholic father, Jim and his family are summoned to a mansion. When they discover that the place is haunted, Jim discovers an important lesson about the family he’s neglected as they attempt to escape. The Haunted Mansion provides more laughs than scares, but the overall theme of ghosts and ghouls provide a fun film for the whole family at Halloween.
